This past weekend Greece hosted Ukraine in a world group playoff match. After a long weekend the Greeks came out on top 3-2 after winning both singles matches on Sunday.
Sergiy opened the tie with a straight-sets win on Friday, but Sergei Bubka Jr. went down to top 150 ATP player Konstantinos Econimidis. On Saturday Seriy teamed with Orest Terashuk to win the doubles match and give Ukraine a 2-1 lead going into Sunday. Sergiy played Economidis and went up 2 sets to 1...Unfortunately he ran out of gas and went down in 5.
Teenager Alexander Dolgopolov then played the 5th and deciding match but went down in 3 tough sets....A tough loss for Ukraine.
After some much needed days off Sergiy returns across the Atlantic to play the XL Bermuda Open next week.
